The end to the latest Doctor Who episode, “The Woman Who Lived,” has…implications. Exciting ones! And if you haven’t seen the episode yet, you should probably stop reading this article.
Given Maisie Williams’s responsibilities as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, it was a bit of a surprise that her guest-star role as Ashildur would stretch beyond “The Girl Who Died,” the initial episode that Williams’ appeared in. Then suddenly the Doctor made Williams’s little Viking girl into an immortal, someone whose story was now far, far from over.
Doctor Who writer Sarah Dollard revealed at this past weekend’s MCM London Comicon that Williams’s character will appear again later in the season, as reported by The Nerdist. In Dollard’s episode “Face the Raven,” to be exact, which is scheduled to air as the tenth episode this season. The Daily Mirror expands on why exactly Lady Me shows up again, but it is EXTREMELY and immediately spoilery, so click at your own risk.
Judging from the events at the end of “The Woman Who Lived,” Williams’s immortal character has the potential to be a wonderfully random element in the Doctor’s life. When does she show up again? Why? We’ll have our answers soon, it seems. UNIT returns next week, as well, and you know Missy won’t be able to resist showing up again before the end of the season. Seems like the second half of this season is going to be quite a showdown.
